January round-up
After a rude awakening on 2nd January, we all settled into the new year nicely. Furniture of all shapes and all sizes (mostly pretty huge) vied for attention with loupe and vesper lights, and families of galley lanterns.
These numerous, enormous pieces furthered calls for workshop expansion plans! In between drawing up blueprints for the future workshop space, we also found time to design beautiful bespoke furniture and lighting, which you may see in about 16 weeks.
Unusually, feasting featured heavily in January, with the whole team discussing plans over pancakes. Pizza Da Mario pizzas powering the workshop, and a night of beer and nachos rounding off the month at 18th-century coaching inn, The Green Man. There, we welcomed two MORE Georgias to the team and also welcomed back former apprentice Callum after a three-month sabbatical in the Austrian Alps. We won't mention the sling that he also returned with...
We squeezed in trips to see the teams at Emma Milne Interiors, Bill Cleyndert & Co. and Slow Made Goods. We visited the bwt-designed haven, Heckfield Place – home of the world's (surely) finest butter. We also joined the Stamford throng for the launch of Claire Langley's new space filled with wonderful antiques, art and upholstery.
